His brown hair was kept up in an undercut, with a swipe to the left. His eyes were a deep brown, and have a kind look to them. He kept his beard cut low and neat, sometimes, if the occasion calls for it, he would go clean shaven.

His chest hair was kept up and at a short, but noticeable length, he rarely went completely smooth, but had on occasion.

Vereyn had Trill spots that ran from his forehead all the way down his broad, hairy chest, his flat stomach and down to his toes.

Off duty, he usually wore a tank top and shorts. But in his quarters, he was sometimes shirtless. With his shirt off, you could see his pouch where the symbiont enters the host. The pouch rested right above his navel, and was barely visible to the naked eye unless you are looking for it.

Personal History ::Childhood::
Vereyn was born on the USS Wasp-A, where his father was the Chief Operations Officer and his mother was a Science Officer. He was the second born of four children. He lived on the Wasp until his parents decided, after his mother became pregnant with their fourth, that it was time to settle down back on Trill to raise their family. Vereyn was 5.

When resettled on Trill, the children attended a school, his father started working in the shipyards, and his mother at a research lab.

Upon graduation from Starfleet Academy, Vereyn got a call from the Symbiosis Commission. There was a symbiont that needed to be transplanted immediately. The USS Fredrickson was heading that way and agreed to drop him off. Upon arrival he was greeted by the head of the Commission and his family. They all immediately went to the surgery center. He changed into surgical gown hugged his family as the surgeons took him in.

As he entered the OR he saw an elderly man lying there. The older man smiled as the bed with the younger Trill lying on it. The older man, Manit, thanked Vereyn for taking on the honor of hosting the symbiont, Kiiz. Vereyn laid there and stared at the ceiling as the gloved hands of the surgeon opened up the pouch on his stomach. He heard the snip of the scissors that severed the host and the symbiont. Knowing what that meant a tear slipped from the corner his eye. He was suddenly filled with fear of the unknown. The surgeon lifted the pouch higher, and he could feel the symbiont go inside. Closing his eyes, he could feel Kiiz take hold. Then his brain flooded with memories, feelings, comfort. A small smile came across his face, as he took his new identity, Vereyn Kiiz.
Starfleet History ::Starfleet Academy::

At the time he reached 18, he decided to go into Starfleet. At first, he didn’t know what field he wanted to go into, so he started with just the general education courses. Upon taking the basic medical class that is required by the Academy, he found that he really liked it. So his advisors adjusted his schedule to match that career path. He graduated the Academy at the rank of Ensign.

Upon graduation, he went to Starfleet Medical Academy, to work towards his M.D. He spent his first 3 years at the Academy doing research and clinicals, then on his final year, he got placed on starbase 32 for his residency. He graduated as a Lieutenant JG and an M.D.

Upon graduating the academy, Vereyn was assigned to the USS Nightingale-A, an Olympic class starship. He was assigned to one of their sickbays as a Medical Officer and surgeon. It was on that ship, that he realized what it meant to be a doctor. They responded to a call from a colony that had an outbreak of a virus, and nothing they could do could cure it. The Nightingale, being a medical relief ship, was the first to respond. Vereyn connected with a young girl while on the planet. He was working with the CMO and the ACMO in EV suits to try and cure the virus. While he was there, she died. He blamed himself because he kept telling her that he would save her. It was the next day that they found the cure. He carries the guilt for her death to this day. A year after the incident he applied for a transfer to the USS Iwo Jima.

Once aboard the Iwo Jima, Vereyn accepted the position of Assistant Chief Medical Officer, and the promotion to Lieutenant. The Iwo Jima was an Akira class starship, their assignment was patrolling the border of Breen space. He served their for five years. During that time, they had many encounters with Breen that were trying to smuggle things across the border. There was a lot to do, everything from minor burns to fatal wounds from skirmishes with the Breen. Everytime Vereyn entered sickbay or the OR, he felt the guilt of the girl’s death. Never actually dealing with it with a counselor. And every death under his hands, even though he tried his best to keep them alive, he held deep within him.

In 2392 Vereyn heard that the Starbase Canopus was in need of a Chief Medical Officer. He talked to his current Chief and she encouraged him to apply for the transfer. He had served long enough as not the Chief of a sickbay. So he put in his transfer request and waited to hear a reply.
