Mission: S2:3: Snow Drift
Location: Messier 4
Timeline: MD1//1st of February 2390

Winter had come to parts of Carpathia more readily than others. On the innermost planet of the system, the airless heat-blasted rock of Cinder's northern hemisphere entered a period of winter. Areas of the north pole saw sleet of frozen sulphur from geysers exploding on the hot side, creating fields of acidic putrid snow.

Tangerine Dream's red and white banding was mixed into a rippling at the equator as turbulent mega-storms hundreds of thousands of miles. The science crews on Canopus Station took this gift of atmospheric anomalies and made for a research-rich environment.

On Carpathia, following the events of the unauthorised intrusion into the Campus of the White Tower, Starfleet security from the Task Force had taken up station on the surface to enforce a quarantine of the jungle. The reason for their transgression still a shrouded secret.

In orbit of Carpathia, Canopus Station repaired its wounds. Replicator systems were sketchy at best across the system, but with the Wire Wolves now safely grounded out and gone things were returning to normal. The first loads of ore were being returned to Carpathia from the Unicorn A asteroid belt. Tritanium, duranium, and common metals were abundant. The ongoing plans to begin building the Pollux Fleet Yards moved forward, with the first constellation of construction frames being slowly forged above the moon.

Things might well have seemed normal, or at least a fair approximation of normal by local standards.

Until the baleful red star appeared in the sky.
